General information

Peredny Bridge is equipped with a case like "banjo" in which gipoidny assembly of the main transfer and completely unloaded power shafts is located. Assembly of differential on models with bodies like Hardtop and Station Wagon contains two satellites in an integral box, on models with bodies like Utiliti (Van) (Utility) and Cab Chassis the 4-sattelitny differential with the box consisting of two half is applied.

The transfer number of the main transfer of all models makes 4.111:1 exception make the Patrol ST and Ti models with manual transmission, models of 3.0 l and Maverick XL. The transfer number of models of 3.0 l makes 4.375:1, and the ST, XL and Ti models - 3.900:1.

Assembly of the conducted gear wheel of the main transfer with differential is installed in two conical roller bearings, and the radial side play and a pretightness are regulated by means of special nuts.

The leading gear wheel is installed also in two conical roller bearings which pretightness is defined by selection of the adjusting washer of the required thickness established between them. Depth of landing of the leading gear wheel is corrected by selection of the adjusting washer established between a gear wheel and a cone of the internal bearing.

Power shafts since the external ends are equipped with the non-demountable hinges of equal angular speeds (HEAS) of Birfild. In case of failure the CV JOINT is replaced assembled with a power shaft. The external end of a power shaft is installed in the needle roller bearing concluded to a rotary pin. The axial emphasis is carried out by means of the brass washer established between the CV JOINT and a rotary pin, and adjustment of an axial side play is made by selection of a fixing lock ring of the required thickness.

The rotary fist is installed on a bridge case pin in two conic roller bearings. The pretightness is carried out by selection of the bearings installed between covers and a fist of adjusting washers of the required thickness. Power shafts transfer the rotation to naves of forward wheels by means of the switched-off drive.

The switched-off drive allow to make a detachment of power shafts from naves of wheels when there is no need for use of the all-wheel drive mode. All models, except for Nissan Patrol Ti, are equipped with naves with manual shutdown of the drive. Shutdown is made by rotation of the selector handle. In the situation blocked (LOCK) frictional and gear assembly of the switched-off drive is entered into gearing with a coupling gear wheel which by means of shlits is connected to the end of a power shaft.

The Nissan Patrol Ti models are equipped with the automatic drive of shutdown of naves of forward wheels. Shutdown can be also duplicated and manually by means of a wrench. In position of LOCK the automatic drive functions also as well as manual. In position of AUTO at the chosen mode 4WD rotation of a power shaft causes raising of a cam in stupichny assembly up a guide on internal brake assembly. At the same time there is a shift of the sliding gear wheel equipped with vents on a power shaft and its introduction to gearing to the leading gear wheel located in stupichny assembly. The movement of the car in an opposite direction causes an instant conclusion of the drive from gearing until raising of a cam on an opposite guide.

At refusal of operation of the switched-off drive it should be replaced assembled. However, it is necessary to notice that the drive with manual switching can be partially disassembled for the purpose of performing procedures of regular service, besides, the gear wheel of coupling belongs to replaceable details.

For maintenance of greasing of components of the forward bridge at the required level, it is necessary to carry out monthly a car run on distance not less than 16 km with the LOCK drive of naves of forward wheels included in the provision.
The forward suspension bracket can be executed both on springs, and on screw springs.

In the first case the leading forward bridge of the car is suspended on semielliptical sheet springs (springs) and equipped with shock-absorbers of bilateral action. Springs are established on rubber pillows, their forward party is fixed by means of an earring, back - an anchor finger.

Shock-absorbers are installed also on rubber pillows. From below the shock-absorber fastens to a basic plate of a step-ladder of a spring while its top part is attached to a car chassis frame.

Components of a forward suspension bracket of spring type

Peredny Bridge leans on springs and is fixed on them by the central bolt. Fastening of the bridge is carried out by means of U-shaped bolts of step-ladders.

The stabilizer of cross stability is fixed on a case of the forward bridge by means of two basic arms equipped with rubber-metal plugs while its external ends fasten by means of racks and rubber plugs to chassis arms.

In case of a spring suspension bracket the leading forward bridge is hung out by means of longitudinal levers and a cross jet bar. The long course of screw springs is controlled by hydraulic shock-absorbers of bilateral action. On some models the stabilizer of cross stability connects longitudinal levers of a suspension bracket to the car chassis, facilitating driving due to restriction of process of rocking of a body during the movement. The role of axial support of components is carried out by the rubber plugs which are not needing service that significantly reduces the level of the noise published by a suspension bracket. In the top part of support of screw springs the rubber limiters of the course of compression preventing direct contact of metal components at full compression of springs are installed.
The damper of the steering drive can be fixed both on a cross jet bar of a suspension bracket, and on a chassis frame (see an accompanying illustration).

The suspension bracket design on screw springs established as an additional complete set on model of 4.2 l of EFI with bodies like Utiliti (Van) and the Mini-truck of late years of release (since 1992), is similar that for models Hardtop and the Versatile person. The order of all procedures described below remains invariable, behind that exception that the effort of tightening of a nut of fastening of a cross jet bar to a case of the forward bridge on release models since October, 1994 makes 91 ÷ 121 Nanometer.
