Systems of a charge and start

General information

On the Patrol/Maverick cars the system of electric equipment working at voltage of 12 V is applied. Weight becomes isolated on the minus plug of the battery. The battery is located in a motive compartment.

In system of electric equipment of cars of the Patrol/Maverick series the generator of alternating current of Hitachi is used. Advantage of the generator of alternating current consists that battery charging happens already on single turns of the engine. When checking the generator you remember that its rated output current can make both 50, and 60 A, depending on car model. The Hitachi generator installed on model of 4.2 l of EFI (since 1992 the issue) has output current 70 A and differs in lack of the external fan.

The generator consists of motionless windings of the stator, a winding of a shaft (rotor), diode assembly of the rectifier and built-in regulator of tension.

At course on windings of a rotor of the electric current (given through the brushes pressed to the sliding contact rings fixed on a shaft) in it (rotor) magnetic field is induced. At rotation of a rotor in zvezdoobrazno the located windings of the stator three-phase alternating current is developed.

As charging of the rechargeable battery can be executed only by means of the power supply of a direct current, the generator is equipped with the diode rectifier fixed in a cover from contact rings of the generator.
Force of output current is defined by the characteristic of the generator whereas control of output tension is exercised by the special built-in regulator. Setup of the built-in regulator of tension is not represented possible.

For start of the engine one of two types of starters of Hitachi is used. Both starters belong on type to reduktorny with food from voltage of 12 V, are equipped with the obgonny coupling (Bendiks's coupling) disconnecting a starter from a gear wreath of a flywheel / a driving disk after start of the engine.

The electromagnetic traction relay is fixed on an arm of a forward cover of a starter. The plunger of the traction relay via the lever of the drive influences assembly of a driving gear wheel with the obgonny coupling.

When giving food on windings of the traction relay its plunger influences the lever of the drive which enters a driving gear wheel into gearing with a gear wreath of a flywheel / a driving disk, at the same time closing a chain of giving of power supply from the battery on windings of excitement and an anchor of an electric motor of a starter.

After start of the engine the obgonny coupling of a driving gear wheel prevents damage of an anchor of an electric motor as a result of its compulsory rotation with high turns when the driver tarried with an ignition key otpuskaniye.
