Removal and installation

Implementation of the procedures described below requires a special throne jack of type. Performance of work without its use is connected with the raised injury risk in view of the essential weight of assembly.

Models of 4.2 l



  1. Tire out the car with back wheels on a platform, cock the parking brake and block back wheels wedges.
  2. Car front also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
  3. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  4. Remove front seats and the central console.
  5. Give fixing screws and remove overlays of thresholds. Remove a forward rug.
  6. Remove handles from levers of gear shifting and the modes of the transfer case. Give screws of fastening of the panel of a floor. Remove the floor panel with rubber protection covers and take it from the car.
  7. Give fixing bolts and remove from transmission a gear shifting drive casing assembled with RKPP control lever.
  8. Release the parking brake, remove a clip and take a finger of fastening of a driving cable to a control lever the parking brake. Weaken fixing nuts, release a cable cover from an arm and push a cable through the floor panel.
  9. Turn out a drain stopper and lower gearbox oil from a transmission case. After end of an effluence of oil grease a carving with sealant and screw a stopper into place.
  1. Mark position of forward and back driveshafts from each other, and also situation them concerning a flange of the leading gear wheel of the main transfer (see an accompanying illustration), a flange of the transfer case and a drum of the parking brake.
  1. Give bolts and nuts and remove driveshafts from the car.
  2. Unbend a rubber protective cover back, turn off a nut of fastening of a rod of switching to a control lever of the transfer case, remove a washer and the remote plug. Disconnect a switching rod from a control lever.
  3. Give bolts of fastening of an arm and remove the lever of switching of the transfer case from a transmission case.
  4. Disconnect ventilating hoses and an electrical wiring from cases of the transfer case and transmission.
  5. Get a cart jack under the transfer case and fix on it assembly by means of a sling or a chain.
  6. Give bolts of fastening of the transfer case to transmission and remove a box from the car.

The weight of the transfer case makes about 50 kg, and therefore authors of this manual strongly recommend use for its removal of a cart jack.

  1. Give fixing bolts and remove the executive cylinder from a coupling case. Fix the cylinder aside, having tied up it a wire to a chassis element.
  2. Give a nut with a bolt and remove rubber pillows from a basic arm of a suspension of system of production of the fulfilled gases
  3. Disconnect an electrical wiring from a starter, give fixing bolts and remove a starter from the car.
  4. There where it is applied, remove the RTO block from transmission and fix it aside.
  5. Give bolts of fastening of a dome of coupling to the engine, remove intensifying brackets and a back guard of the engine.
  6. Get a special jack under a case of the transmission and a chain tie up to it transmission.
  7. Prop up transmission a jack, give nuts and bolts of fastening of a cross beam to a frame of the chassis and support of transmission. Remove a cross beam from the car.
  8. Carefully lower a jack, having tracked that were not tense the wires and hoses connected to the engine and carefully take transmission from under the car.

Do not allow in the course of removal of transmission of hang it all weight on the conducted clutch plate in order to avoid an exit of the last out of operation.

  1. Check serviceability of functioning of coupling.


Appearance of the transmission with the accompanying components

Installation is made upside-down.


  1. Apply moderate amount of lubricant on vents of main shaft RKPP, oil the contact surface of the directing plug.
  2. Check purity of the interfaced surfaces of a back guard of the engine and a dome of coupling. Grease a flange of the last with Loctite 587 sealant, or equivalent to it.
  3. Lift transmission a jack and level it concerning the engine, having tracked that the interfaced surfaces of a dome of coupling and a back guard of the engine were parallel each other.
  4. Having established transmission on transfer, turn a secondary shaft for combination of shlits of a pin primary with reciprocal vents in a nave of the conducted clutch plate.
  5. Press transmission to the engine, tighten all bolts with the required effort and connect an electrical wiring and ventilating hoses in a starting position.
  6. Install into place the executive cylinder of coupling, in case of need pump over hydraulic system.
  7. Impose a sealant pillow on a landing flange of a starter and establish the last on a distance.
  8. Having tracked combination of landing tags, install into place driveshafts.
  9. Connect and adjust a cable of the drive of the parking brake.
  1. Establish assembly of a casing of the drive of gear shifting with the gear shifting lever. Do not forget to replace laying and track that long fixing bolts were screwed in the points shown on an accompanying illustration (And).
  1. Fill in necessary amount of oil of the required grade in transmission. Grease with sealant a carving of a jellied stopper and strongly tighten the last.

Models of 3.0 l


Procedures of removal and installation of transmission are similar considered above for models of 4.2 l taking into account the listed below moments.


  1. After removal of assembly of the lever of gear shifting with a switching drive casing by means of a special magnet take a spring and a ball from a lengthening casing.
  2. At removal of the executive cylinder of coupling give bolts of fastening of an arm of a hydraulic tube to the engine.



  1. At installation of assembly of a casing of the drive of switching with the lever of gear shifting grease its interfaced surface with Loctite 587 sealant (or equivalent to it).
  1. Do not forget to establish into place a spring and a ball. Roll fixing bolts with heads of 12 mm in provisions A, 13 mm - in provisions B (see an accompanying illustration). Tighten all fixture with the required effort.
